Known affectionately by the name of Goiás Velho, the former capital of the state was founded in the Gold Cycle and portrays the Brazilian colonial period in a very particular way, which is why it is a Cultural Heritage of Humanity by Unesco. The urban layout is an example of the development of a mining town with adaptations to local conditions, such as the limits imposed by the Serra Dourada Valley and the Rio Vermelho.

Among its cultural manifestations, the highlight is Holy Week, especially for the Fogaréu Procession, which receives visitors from all over the country. The city is also well known by the poetess Cora Coralina. His home became a widely visited museum. For those who like to visit beautiful churches, the City of Goiás is the right place. It also has options of waterfalls and rivers for visitors to cool off. One option is the Cachoeira das Andorinhas.
