Tegucigalpa is the capital of Honduras. This city is located in the department or province of Francisco Morazán, in the center of the country, about 1.000 meters above sea level. Its population is over one million inhabitants. Tegucigalpa is the capital of the country, it is a city located on the plains of Picacho, a mountain about 1240 meters above sea level.

Its original name, with the arrival of the Spaniards, was designated as Villa Real de San Miguel de Tegucigalpa, a name that it acquired with its foundation by the Spanish sailors in the XNUMXth century. Since then, it is a city that has grown significantly until today, making it the most populous city in Honduras and also in its capital.
