Washington was named after the first American President, George Washington, and is located in the east of the country on the north bank of the Potomac River. It houses the headquarters of the three branches of the American government, the Executive, the Legislative and the Judiciary. In addition, there are the headquarters of the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank, the Organization of American States, among several other national and international institutions.

In addition to being one of the most important political centers in the world, it is also a tourist hub, with several monuments and attractions, such as the White House (residence of the President of the United States), the Capitol, the Library of Congress, the Washington Monument and the Lincoln Memorial.
