Manchester or, rarely, Manchester is a city in the United Kingdom, in the northwest of England. Manchester's urban agglomeration has about 3,6 million inhabitants, which includes other cities and areas in the county, and is called Greater Manchester.

One of Manchester's tourist attractions is the grand Old Trafford stadium, home of Manchester United, located in Greater Manchester's Trafford. Manchester has achieved great worldwide fame thanks to bands such as New Order, Joy Division, Simply Red, The Smiths, Stone Roses, Oasis, Happy Mondays, Chemical Brothers and The Ting Tings, many of which are precursors of some great music movement.

Manchester is known worldwide for its two clubs, Manchester United and Manchester City, which make Manchester City's classic City x United. Manchester is home to three universities. The University of Manchester is the main university in the city and was created in 2004 by merging Victoria University of Manchester (founded in 1851) with UMIST (founded in 1880, aimed at teaching science and technology). This university includes the Manchester Business School, which provided the first MBA course in the United Kingdom in 1965.
