Tourism in spas, waterfalls and the bed of the Grajaú River still stands out as an economic source. In the summer, after the flooding empties, precisely in the month of July, this river basically becomes the biggest production force in this city and its villages, as it attracts countless tourists to enjoy its beautiful waterfalls and waters in Canecão, Limoeiro, Prainha and Zé Mulato; besides moving the local commerce, through Pousadas, Hotels, Local stores and handicrafts grajauense.

One of the biggest tourist attractions in the city is the Grajaú River and its waterfalls along its route through the State of Maranhão. andiroba and bacuri, used in the manufacture of furniture, constructions and handicrafts. In animal extraction, the species are varied, some of which are endangered: deer, paca, agouti, peba, armadillo, guariba, monkey, capybara and pig-of-the-bush. Among the endangered birds, the seriema, the rhea, the jacu and the curió stand out.
