By not informing the opening hours, nor the telephone number or website for queries and / or complaints, the company did not guarantee good service conditions, nor dignified and equitable treatment to its customers', says the official statement.

The Argentine Ministry of Internal Trade fined Despegar (Take Off in Brazil) 4 million Argentine pesos for failing to comply with the Consumer Protection Law. OTA was penalized for not providing information on the service channels where consumers can request rebookings, cancellations and refunds.

'It was established that, through omissions such as not entering the email address of the national body that enforces the Consumer Protection Law, or not informing the opening hours, nor the telephone number or website for inquiries and / or complaints, the company did not guarantee good service conditions, nor dignified and equitable treatment to its customers', says the official statement.

In addition to Despegar, other companies were fined by the Argentine Consumer Protection Department for disregarding current regulations. They are Glovo, OrdersYa, Telefónica de Argentina, Frávega, Sodimac, Walmart and Iguatemi (Key Biscane).

Information is from the Argentine portal Ladevi.
