The minister of Tourism, Gilson Machado Neto, commemorates advances from the transformation of Embratur and defends efforts to promote the country. “Embratur now has its own resources to promote Brazil. In the post-pandemic, no country will have the potential of Brazil.

Operating since May 2020 as an Autonomous Social Service, thanks to a law sanctioned by the President of the Republic, Jair Bolsonaro, Embratur (Brazilian Agency for International Tourism Promotion) celebrates 55 years of foundation this Tuesday (18.11). The Agency, which due to legislation had to focus on promoting domestic tourism until the last month of July, is already operating in the international market again, reinforcing the country's position in the post-pandemic.

This was the case, for example, of the work to publicize national attractions developed at the Olympic Games in Japan and now at Expo Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates. Embratur, together with the Ministry of Tourism, is also preparing to participate in six international events in the sector during the first half of 2022, including renowned fairs in the sector in Germany, Colombia, Spain, Netherlands, Italy and Portugal.

The minister of Tourism, Gilson Machado Neto, commemorates advances from the transformation of Embratur and defends efforts to promote the country. “Embratur now has its own resources to promote Brazil. In the post-pandemic, no country will have the potential of Brazil, mainly due to the trend towards nature tourism. Therefore, we need to talk more about our country, show our beauties more. It is with this commitment that we will continue our work, in partnership with Embratur”, he emphasizes.

In May of this year, Machado Neto and the president of Embratur, Carlos Brito, represented Brazil at Fitur, in Madrid (Spain), one of the most important fairs in the sector on the planet. Together, the two met with ambassadors, ministers of tourism from other nations and business leaders, as well as members of the World Tourism Organization (WTO) and the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC), in order to promote the country and attract investors.

In the same month, they also participated in the meeting of ministers of Tourism of the Americas, promoted by the WTO in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. At the time, subjects such as the resumption of the sector and the unification of protocols between the countries were discussed. Gilson Machado Neto and Carlos Brito also discussed the dissemination of Brazil by agencies of the Spanish group Globalia, in a meeting with the institution's president, Juan José Hidalgo.

Embratur already organizes advertising campaigns to encourage the arrival of tourists from Mercosur and the United States. “We will take the message to the Americans that a visa is not required to visit Brazil. To tourists from neighboring countries, we will demonstrate that the pandemic is under control and that our incredible destinations are ready to receive them this summer,” says Carlos Brito. The actions will indicate that Brazil is accessible to people with disabilities, reinforcing the inclusion in tourism as a fundamental agenda.
