In addition to the two parks in Paraná, the chairs are present in more than 20 parks in different states of the country, such as Bahia, Ceará, Goiás, Mato Grosso, Minas Gerais, Pará, Pernambuco, Rio de Janeiro, Rio Grande do Sul, Santa Catarina and São Paulo.

This week, the federal government, through the Ministry of the Environment, delivered yet another group of wheelchairs adapted for ecotourism trails in two parks in the state of Paraná. The “Juliettis”, as they are called, can be found by tourists in the national units of Foz do Iguaçu and Ponta Grossa.

The initiative is part of a broad program that aims to enhance ecological tourism in federal conservation units, in addition to promoting the economic development of the surrounding areas and fostering the generation of employment and income in the tourism sector.

The availability of the equipment is the result of a partnership between the Ministry of the Environment and a national NGO, present in about 38 destinations in 22 states of the country.

Today, according to data from the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE), 6,2% of the Brazilian population has some type of disability. Accessibility is a constant concern of the Ministry of Tourism. One of the actions developed by Pasta is the Accessible Tourism Program, which carries out actions aimed at promoting social inclusion and access for people with disabilities or reduced mobility to tourist activities. The work meets initiatives by the Federal Government to guarantee decent living conditions, full participation in society and equal opportunities for all people with disabilities.
